Tree of Life or Placenta Prints

Most people don't know that the umbilical cord and vein structure attached to a placenta makes this amazing tree design, often called The Tree of Life. The cord acts as the trunk, then when it meets the inside of amniotic bag the veins branch out like limbs of a tree. If I have access to your placenta postpartum I am more than happy to create a print of this design from your placenta. Cost is usually minimal to cover supplies, or free if I am already encapsulating for you.

Umbilical Cord Ring - Cord Preservation

Cords can be wound into a ring or shaped into a heart before dehydration, preserving the cord. For a fancier option we can make a bracelet out of the cord and wrap fabrics of your choosing around the outside to make it a beautiful keepsake piece. Costs may vary depending on methods used. Basic preservation is free with placenta encapsulation.

Placenta Parchment - Membrane Preservation

For those having their Placenta Encapsulated in many cases the membrane which is attached to the placenta can be preserved, making a very interesting film-like parchment. If you're encapsulating with me and are interested in preserving some of the membrane simply let me know and I'll be happy to do so.

Baby's First Hand & Foot Prints

If your midwife or hospital did not do hand and foot prints I am happy to help you get your baby's first hand and foot prints. Those who have hired me as their doula receive this service by request free of charge. For those simply seeking someone to come and take prints of their new baby there may be a nominal charge for transportation and supplies.

Written Account of Your Birth Story or Letters to Baby

As a doula I help mothers find their way along the birthing journey, and if I am your doula I am more than happy to provide a written story of your birth, or collect letters from you and your loved ones for your baby. Simply let me know ahead of time if you'd like me to keep track of memorable moments in your labor for story writing later. Please note I have dabbled in writing fiction, ranging in the genres of historical, contemporary, supernatural, western, horror, humor and spiritual - if you desire a particular style of writing I am likely to be able to accommodate you.

I am thrilled to take photographs during your birth if you so desire. I carry with me an inexpensive digital camera to all births, and if you request ahead of time I can also bring with me a high-quality DSLR camera for better photos. Keep in mind I am by no means a professional photographer, however I will strive to capture beautiful and meaningful images I believe you will enjoy.
